Daniel 1:1-21
Key Verse 1:8 “But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.”
1. Review 2 Kings 17:7-18 and 2 Chronicles 36:15-20 to learn why Israel was conquered by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. (1-2)
2. Why did King Nebuchadnezzar choose some young men from the royal family and the nobility to learn the Babylonian culture and change their names? (3-7)
3. What did Daniel resolve to do and why? (8) Why would it be hard to keep his decision?
4. How did Daniel act wisely to get permission to carry out his decision? (9-16) How did God bless these four young men for their decision of faith? (17-20)
5. What can we learn from Daniel about making a decision of faith to follow God’s way rather than to follow the way of the world? (cf. Matthew 7:13-14)
