Key Verse 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
1. What do verses 1-2 tell us about who God the Creator is? What are the implications of God being the Creator of all things?
2. What is the significance of God creating the world with his word? (3) What is the significance of the repetition of the phrase, “and God said…and it was so”? (cf. Isaiah 55:11)
3. What is the importance of the repeated phrase “and God saw that it was good”? (10)
4. Draw a diagram of the 6 days of creation. What do you notice about how the first three days of creation are related to the last three days of creation?
5. What is God’s purpose in creating the world? What do you think the author is trying to convey in this passage? Write it down in one or two sentences and share it with someone else.
