JESUS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
John 7:53-8:20
Key Verse 8:12 “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”
1. Who did the religious leaders bring to Jesus and with what accusation? (3-4) What did the religious leaders ask Jesus? (6a) What was their hidden motive?
2. What did Jesus do? (6b) When they kept on questioning him, what did he say to them? (7-8) What did all of the woman’s accusers do? (9)
3. Why did he let her go without condemning her? (11; cf. John 3:17; Galatians 3:13) After receiving forgiveness, how should she live from now on? (11b; cf. Romans 6:13-14)
4. How does verse 12 give us a new life direction? What is the darkness that those without Jesus walk in? In what sense were the woman and the religious leaders living in darkness?
