Luke 9:37-45

Key Verse 9:41 “‘You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, ‘how long shall I stay with you and put up with you? Bring your son here.”

1. What is the contrast between what happened at the Transfiguration mountain and what was happening at the foot of the mountain? (37-40)

2. What was the agony of the father with the demon-possessed son? (38-39) Why couldn’t the disciples drive out the demon even though they did it before? (9:1; Mark 9:28-29)

3. What is the significance of Jesus lamenting the unbelief of that generation? (41a) How does unbelief make people perverse (wicked or crooked)? How can our sufferings and hardships make our view of God perverse or crooked?

4. How did Jesus heal the boy? (42) How did people respond? (43a)

5. While everyone was marveling at all that Jesus did, what shocking event did Jesus warn his disciples of? (43b-44; Isaiah 53:3-5) Why couldn’t the disciples understand Jesus’ words? (45)
