Ruth was from a cursed tribe of Moabites. But God redeemed Ruth because of her faith in God. Not only that, she became an ancestor of the Messiah. God’s extreme grace redeemed Ruth. This cursed Moabite became the great-grandmother of King David. How did a cursed Moabite get into the line of the Messiah? The answer: because God provided for her a redeemer. We were also cursed due to our sins. But God provided the Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus came to this world as a human to redeem us so that we may be his holy children. He paid the price of our redemption on the cross with his own blood. At this Christmas, we thank and praise God for Jesus our Redeemer in coming to this world as a baby in the manger to redeem us.
