We can never know what a crooked line is unless we also know a straight line. We can use a mirror to see that our face is dirty, but the mirror cannot clean the dirty face. The law was given to produce the conviction of sin so that we may feel the need for the Savior, Jesus Christ. As we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus, may God help us to be aware of our sinfulness more and more so that the cross of Jesus gets bigger and bigger in our hearts and we can grow in gospel faith.
