The Word Became Flesh

John 1:1-4, 14

Key Verse 1:14 “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

1. What does the phrase “In the beginning” tell us about the Word? (1a) Who is the Word? (14,17) Why does the author John call Jesus the Word?

2. Through whom were all things made? (3) What does this tell us about His relationship with the world and us? (cf. Colossians 1:15-17)

3. What does it mean that “In him was life”? (4) What does it mean that the life is the light of all mankind? (cf. John 9:3, Isaiah 9:2)
