THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES AT PENTECOST
Acts 2:1-21
Key Verse 2:4 “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”
1. What gift did Jesus promise his disciples in 1:4-5? What is the significance of the Holy Spirit enabling them to speak other languages? (1-4) How is this related to Jesus’ promise that they will be his witnesses to the ends of the earth? (1:8)
2. Where was the crowd from and why did they gather in Jerusalem? (5-11; cf. Deuteronomy 16:9-10,16) What was their response when they heard the apostles speaking in their own languages? (12-13)
3. How did Peter explain that this is the fulfillment of Joel’s prophecy? (14-21; cf. Joel 2:28-32)
