Jesus teaches us to “consider carefully HOW you listen.” So how exactly do you respond to God’s word? Are you “selectively hearing” the word of God for the bits you agree with or are you listening to His word in its fullness? When you hear God’s word, do you let it convict you and apply it to yourself? If we don’t have an absolute attitude toward His word, then even the little bit of it we have will be taken away (Luke 8:12-14, 18). Cover up any flame long enough and you’ll eventually extinguish it. So, as the old saying goes, you gotta use it or lose it!
