MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ENTER THROUGH THE NARROW DOOR

Luke 13:18-35

Key Verse 13:24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.”

1. What did Jesus compare the kingdom of God to? (18-21) What do these parables tell us about the way the kingdom of God grows?

2. What question did someone ask Jesus and why? (22-23) What does “narrow door” mean? (24; cf. Matthew 7:13-14)

3. What does “Make every effort…” mean? (24) Does it mean that we should earn our salvation? How might people wrongly assume they deserve to enter the kingdom of God? (25-27; cf. John 6:53)

4. Who will be welcomed in the kingdom of God? (28-30) What does it mean that the last will be first? (cf. Luke 23:42-43)

5. When some Pharisees warned Jesus about Herod, how did Jesus reaffirm his mission? (31-33) Why did Jesus weep over Jerusalem? (34-35) What was his longing hope?
