Let’s Rebuild the Wall

Nehemiah 2:11-3:32

Key Verse 2:17 “Then I said to them, ‘You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.’”

1. What did Nehemiah do during the night after staying in Jerusalem for three days? (11-15) Why do you think Nehemiah secretly examined the walls and the gates? (16)

2. What did Nehemiah challenge the Jewish remnants to do and why? (17) How did Nehemiah encourage them? What was the people’s response to him? (18)

3. Who were the enemies of the people of Israel and what did they do when they heard about the reconstruction plan? (19) How did Nehemiah respond to them? What does it mean that the God of heaven would give them success and they were his servants? (20; cf. 1:10)

4. Summarize the characteristics of the rebuilding project including how it was carried out. (3:3-32) What lessons can we, as a church, learn from the rebuilding project? (cf. 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Ephesians 4:15-16)
