Jesus’ command, “You give them something to eat” is simply a restatement of the great commission, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” (Mk 16:15) If we give Jesus what we have, he can multiply it to feed the spiritually hungry multitude. We should never say, “I don’t have anything. I don’t have any talent, so I cannot do anything for God.” Each person has “five loaves of bread and two fish.” It is a matter of the heart.
