I AM THE LORD’S SERVANT | Luke 1:26-38

It all comes back to one word: grace. Mary was a no one special yet God chose her out of all women in the history of mankind to be the mother of Jesus. God made her the mother of the Messiah, the Saviour of the world. Even in her song, Mary joyfully sings of how future generations will all call her blessed (Luke 1:48). She knew that all this was by God’s grace alone. God’s calling was His grace upon her. That is why she could humbly call herself a servant for she knew who her true King was. Everything she would do from then on would be gladly done in service of her King. We naturally think that being a servant means being lesser than. But in Christ, being a servant is the highest honour (Matthew 23:11-12)
