John 10:1-15
Key Verse 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
1. When a man does not enter by the gate but climbs in by some other way, what does this reveal about his motives? (1) What does it mean that Jesus entered by the gate? Look at Ezekiel 34:15, 23-24. How does Jesus fulfill prophecy?
2. What does it mean that the sheep recognize the shepherd’s voice? (3) What is the significance of his calling them by name? Why is it significant that he leads them rather than drive them from behind? (4)
3. What does it mean that Jesus is the gate? (7) Why does Jesus the shepherd come? (10)
4. What does the good shepherd do for the sheep? (11) How is the hired hand different from the shepherd? (12-13)
5. What analogy did Jesus use to describe his relationship with his sheep? (14-15) What should we do as Jesus’ sheep and how can we grow to be good shepherds like him?
