HUMBLE YOURSELVES BEFORE GOD

James 4:1-17

1. What causes fights and quarrels among Christians? (1-3) Why is it important that we pray and have the right motives?

2. What does James mean by “friendship with the world”? (4; cf. 1 John 2:15-16) Why does James call those who are friends of the world “adulterous people”? (cf. Matthew 6:24)

3. What is the solution to coveting and quarrels? (6-10) How can we submit ourselves to God and resist the devil? (8-9; cf. 1 Peter 5:6-9)

4. Why shouldn’t we slander, speak against, or judge our brothers and sisters? (11; cf. Matthew 7:1-2) Why can only God judge? (12)

5. Why is boasting about our selfish ambition foolish? (14; cf. Proverbs 16:9) Instead of meaningless boasting, what should we do? (15-17)
