Four Hallmarks of Humility
Luke 17:1-10
Key Verse 17:10 “So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’”
1. What are some things that cause people to stumble? (1; cf. Luke 16:14-15) How can we be watchful so that we do not cause others to stumble? (2-3a) Why is this a hallmark of humility?
2. When someone wrongs you, how should you respond? (3b-4; cf. Luke 11:4, Matthew 18:21-22) How is forgiveness related to humility?
3. Why did the apostles think that they needed to have their faith increased in order to forgive? (5) Why is it important to recognize our weakness? How is faith in God related to humility? (6)
4. What should be our attitude as disciples of Jesus Christ in serving God? (7-10) How is the attitude of an unworthy servant a mark of humility? (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:9-10; Philippians 2:3-5)
