FORGIVEN MUCH LOVES MUCH
Luke 7:36-50
Key Verse 7:47 “Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.”
1. Why might the Pharisee named Simon invite Jesus? (36) [Look at verses 44-46. He did not treat Jesus with common courtesy for a guest at that time.]
2. How is the woman who burst onto the scene described? (37) How did she show her repentance? (38) How could her actions have embarrassed Jesus?
3. How was the Pharisee cold-hearted and judgmental? (39) How does Jesus’ story illustrate the actions of the woman? (40-43)
4. How did Jesus compare and contrast the woman and Simon? (44-46) What didn’t Simon know about himself and about God’s grace? (47; cf. 1 Timothy 1:15, 1 Corinthians 15:10)
5. How could Jesus forgive her sins and further bless her? (48-50) How can we love God more? (cf. 1 John 4:19)
