Extreme Grace: Rahab’s Righteousness
Joshua 2:1-24
Key Verse 2:11 “When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.”
* The Faith of a Prostitute (Joshua 2:1-11)
1. Why do you think Rahab hid, lied, and protected the two spies? (1-11)
2. What is the significance of Rahab using the covenant name of God, Yahweh? (9,11) How may Rahab have heard about this name? (10)
* Rescued from Destruction (Joshua 2:12-24 & 6:20-23)
3. How did the two spies respond to Rahab’s request and what did they promise her? (14-20) How was Rahab instrumental in conquering Jericho? (24)
4. Why do you think the Bible continues to refer to Rahab as the prostitute? (cf. Hebrews 11:31, James 2:25) Is it to ‘drag her name in the mud’ or something else? What are the biblical authors trying to tell us about God’s grace?
5. Rahab’s faith in Yahweh made her exempt from God’s judgment on Jericho. (Joshua 6:20-23; cf. Deuteronomy 7:2, Romans 5:9) Why is Rahab considered righteous?
