Don’t Be Afraid of Them
Nehemiah 4:1-23
Key Verse 4:14 “After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”
1. What opposition did the people of Israel face while rebuilding the wall? (1-3, 7-8) How did Nehemiah and his people respond to the challenge, knowing that God’s gracious hand was upon them? (4-6, 9; cf. Acts 14:22)
2. What were other problems and opposition to the rebuilding work? (10-12) How did Nehemiah deal with those? (13-14) How did God help his people? (15)
3. Why do you think it is important for a Christian not to be afraid in times of troubles, but to remember God and who He is? (14; cf. Ephesians 6:10-13, Exodus 14:13-14)
