Do Not Fear, I Am With You, I Am Your God
Isaiah 41:1–29
Key Verse 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
1. Why does God call on the nations to renew their strength? (1) How would they do that? (6-7) How does this compare to how the Lord’s people renew their strength? (cf. Isaiah 40:28-31)
2. How is Israel encouraged and distinguished from the other nations? (8-9) What assurance does the Lord give his people in verses 10-14?
3. Contrast the way Jacob (i.e., the people of God) is described in verse 14 with the way God’s people are described in verses 15-16. Why does God do so?
4. What promise does the Lord make to his people in verses 17-19? For what purpose? (20)
5. What challenge does the Lord issue to the idols? (21-29) How can we overcome our tendency to put our trust in idols in the face of trials instead of God?
