1 Peter 5:1-14
Key Verse: 5:2 “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them–not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve.”

1. What does it mean that Peter calls himself a fellow elder? What does it mean to Peter that he is a witness of Christ’s sufferings? That he will share in “the glory to be revealed”? (cf. Romans 8:17)

2. What does it mean to be a shepherd of God’s flock? (2) What should be the attitude of a shepherd toward his task? How should he exercise leadership? (3; cf. Mark 10:42-45)

3. What does it mean that Jesus is the Chief Shepherd? (4; cf. John 10:11) What is the reward that a shepherd will receive and when does he receive it? (cf. James 1:12)

4. What attitude should younger members of the church have toward their elders? (5) Toward their peers? What does it mean to be humble? (cf. Luke 14:11, Philippians 2:3-5)

5. What does it mean to cast our anxiety on God? (7) How is this related to our humility before God?

6. Why must we always be alert and of sober mind? (8) How can we be victorious over our enemy the devil? (9) Why is it important to know that our sufferings are shared with other believers? (9; 1 Corinthians 10:13)

7. What will God do for those who suffer a little while and endure to the end? (10)
